A few disappointing discoveries...
So I finally got my baby out this past week as spring has arrived up here in Canada.
The CLA45 in white with NSP is an absolute head turner! Everywhere my car goes it gets stared at! And I live in a wealthy city full of Porsches, BMWs, Maseratis and even Bentleys!
However I have noticed a few disappointing things on the CLA45 that I attribute to Mercedes cost cutting initiatives:
(1) Driver and Passenger front interior door panels do not sit flush with the door? Seriously Mercedes !?!
(2) Sunroof in 'vent open' position exposes sloppy grease all inside the rails - MB dealer cleaned this up
(3) Front toe hook doesn't sit flush with front bumper?
(4) There is an annoying rattle from the back, I think it could be the rear seat belt harness - anyone else have this? The car rides very stiff which adds the noise in all likelihood.
Aside form these minor issues, love the car. Handling with AMG upgraded suspension is PHENOMENAL - this car feels like a planted go cart!
Appreciate the feedback

The transmission is slightly funky at slow speeds. I was driving into a steep driveway in 1st gear and I felt an awful grinding noise. Not sure if it was the tranny or torque converter but it was weird

The rattle from the seat belt is on the passenger side against the seat. But never fear, MB has thought of everything & installed a magnet in the passenger seat up high on that side, Just attach the errant buckle against the seat up high & the magnet will hold it there.

According the MB Dealer, Mercedes has issued the FIRST service bulletin world wide for the CLA specifically for a rattle like this

How do you like the car so far other then some minor issues. I am in Calgary also and thinking about ordering one of these but my concern is the winters here. Worried the winter in Calgary will ruin this car. Winter tires are a must. Also do you think it is kid friendly? I have a 10 year old and an 4 year old. I drive an BMW X5 at the moment and the lease is coming to an end soon and was looking at this beauty. My wife really like the way it looks specially in Black. The one priced out came to 56k which is what I like to keep it around. Don't need all the options. Hope the dealers give little discount..
Also Did you order from lonestar or Hyatt? Any info would be great.

My car was fully loaded, with GST came in at $74K. The car is drop dead gorgeous, a head turner everywhere I go as there are no other CLA45s I have seen, or even regular CLA's in Calgary yet?
I am very satisfied with the car, but being a single 30 year old, my needs I think are slightly different thank yours. I would maybe recommend the GLA45 AMG coming out soon, might offer more practicality for a family. THe CLA45 is a sports car - rear head room and access is limited given the sleek roof line, the car does ride rough with its sport suspension so probably not ideal for long family trips, and it is LOUD with the AMG performance exhaust.
Be advised, there is NO discount on these AMG cars. Hyatt told me last week delivery on CLA45 in Calgary in now into December 2014, demand exceeds supply plain and simple. I think all I got off was $800 due to my loyalty to Hyatt (2nd MB from there)
If you have any further questions, feel free to PM me, could even possibly meet up this spring
Cheers!
Jonathan

Wow.. In to December... Or it could be well into 2015.. I will go into Hyatt and Lonestar tomorrow to see what the wait is like. Thanks for the heads up. I knew the demand was there but didn't know it was this crazy. My lease is up on the X5 in August or September and i was thinking into getting another lease by October the latest but this could be pushing it.
I have not dealt with Hyatt before but will go see Jonathan. I been dealing with lonestar for the past 20 years. Will keep in touch and thanks for the info..
Cheers,
Ilker,
