CLA/A/GLA 45 AMG vs Golf R/S3
Folks.. what are your thoughts? CLA/A/GLA 45 AMG suppose to be the king on the 4 cylinder 2.0liter class. With an output of 375hp/350lb-q from factory but the Golf R/Audi S3 are hitting high 11's with a modest set up (tune only).
On paper the CLA45 are better cars, stock for stock the CLA/A/GLA have the edge but with the tune things evens up. The AWD on boths cars have similarities, the Haldex engages only when it needs it but is only a 50/50 distribution.
Are the Golf R/S3 a decent competition? stock the EA888 2.0 liter engine is only rated at 292hp/280lb-tq but like I said earlier so many people hitting 11's and around 115mph with just a tune.
My personal opinion hasn't changed. The AMG engine came from factory well squeezed in power. The EA888 makes ridiculous gains with just tunes

MORE performance options available for VW/AUDI .
what's holding things for the 45 is proper tune on the gearbox .
possible PTU upgrades would give it better power to the ground in a 1/4 mile times.
2018 will be the killer year for the 45 in new engine design and most likely better 4matic system.
2 yrs with my 45 and I'm very content with it.

^^ I wasn't aware that the AMG speedshift MCT was that bad. I mean.. VW/Audi had their DSG for 10+ years now so you would think AMG being a performance subdivision would do better. I would expect the best out of AMG specially because they suppose to set themselves apart from the competition but I guess in real life things might not be that way.

it's very robust the problem is aftermarket availability of parts and tuning company's.
this car is Mercedes first attempt into high performance compact car seen.
I think they did a fantastic job .
here is a full article on the 4matic system on the 45 AMG
