Dealership charging me $3k for "transmission malfunction stop" obd code U0101
I have a 2014 CLA 45 and I got it checked at a dealership to make sure everything is ok before I go on a roadtrip. The dealership did a 12-point inspection and as I drove the car back home "Transmission Malfunction Stop" appeared in red on the dash and the car went into neutral. I had to pull over and stop, turn off the engine and I was able to turn it back on and drive home. This happened four more times and an hour to my road trip my car stalled and I wasn't able to turn it back on, couldn't even put it in neutral and had it towed to the dealership
While waiting for the tow, I have an obd2 reader and I found out that the error code was U0101. The dealership called back and after "diagnostics" the said parts and labor are going to be a total of $3k+
My car never had any problems at all and I take care of it really good and never drive it too much because I would just walk to work.
Is the price they're charging reasonable? I don't know what the best course of action would be, any advice please? Thank you....I really worked hard to pay for this car and this is my first and only car...I have only walked to work ever...thank you

Sorry to hear. A quick search found these:
https://repairpal.com/obd-ii-code-u0...ation-with-tcm
https://www.obd-codes.com/u0101
It certainly doesn't sound like a $3K repair. It might be worth calling around to other shops/dealers. Good luck.
