Does someone know a material of CAT in the stock downpipe, ceramic or metal, of CLA 45 C117 or A45 W176?
A reason why I'm asking this is my some friends have tuned A45 W177.
A ceramic (CAT) in the stock downpipe shattered by the large exhaust pressure. Then they had to change downpipes to others with "Metal" CAT instead of ceramic.
They also said CLA45 C117 and A45 W176 had no issue mentioned above and they thought their CAT was made by metal. But I cannot believe if Mercedes (AMG) used other raw material for CAT only for some models.

one of the components of a cat is metal which is platinum. That is ALL cats. Only way to get the proper chemical reaction to output CO2, H2O. The OEM substrates are usually ceramic but within the substrate, the platinum MUST live.
Aftermarket cats are usually a metal substrate BUT in the USA, they are not EPA approved except for racing use. If you live in California, forget about aftermarket cats.
