My review of the Armaspeed CAI for the CLA45 AMG
Hi
Well I ordered this directly from Armaspeed in Taiwan. Received the product in a blistering 8 days!
I have done Eventuri on my RS3 and I have it on my Supra ( A90) and my Mini JCW. I like their products but they can get spendy. I decided to try this product as it was a pretty good value, it looked nice in the photo's and they were very responsive to my questions.
It came nicely boxed, it could have withstood being kicked around no problem. Unboxing showed each product individually wrapped carefully , I inspected everything and all was in fine shape. Instructions are included, they are actually presented in a sheathed binder which was a nice touch!
I watched the install video on this site from the first review, it was helpful to a point, they stopped recording at the point I reached. While I did not take a video I can explain how best to install this if you're doing it alone.
Removing the ECU and factory airbag is easy Torx T25/30. Once you have everything off I suggest the following. Anchor both ends firmly, that means on the firewall side lock it down with the clamp ( the new part) and on the new K&N side. Leave only the one clamp loose that is the closest to the airbag from the actual pipe. Place the filter in the box and then adjust the pipe from the middle to each end. I tried several methods and was frustrated until I decided to try this method, it took me 90 minutes but now I could do this in 30 minutes from start to finish. I hope that helps!
I like the way it looks, it sort of completes the engine bay.
Power- well I am still in break-in and I am not going to dyno the car for this but they like Eventuri include their own sheets which you can consult. I will say I like the sound and perhaps saw a quicker throttle response but I will add to this review as my car completes break-in. Regardless of power I still would have done this as I know it adds some power but I like the look a lot.
I am fortunate, I have 5 cars and something like this on my GT3 would be 4k and you would barely even see it, My RS3 one was 1600, the Supra was 1200 and even the Mini with the hood scoop was 1600. Armaspeed is pretty reasonable for what it delivers and I am very delighted.
I would recommend any C118 AMG owner to check it out. I will answer any questions I can. I know this forum is slow for us but as more cars arrive I expect it to pick up.
