First Test Drive of CLA250

Drove the CLA250 this past weekend:

Good:
Well Build
Top notch materials inside
Good driver ergonomics

Bad:
This is a four cylinder as in - it putts putts & then will power up on the band.
Can feel the body is flimsier than other Benzes - road imperfections will come through
Black color just eats up all the beautiful angles & curves
Really needs backup camera to help with smallish windows & big blindspots.
Options to make it 'go-fast' look add up quickly.

Summary:
Don't think it's worth close to $40K to travel slow & look go.
Will wait for CLA45 AMG for that.
Serves purpose as entry point for new MB buyers but a C250 maybe a better car overall.

I just ordered one for my wife. Looking for a car to lease for her in the $35K range, it was between this and the Ford Fusion, and so I went with this for $36800. Not too many cars really appeal to me in this price range.

Went to look it with my Mom - who's retired.
We were concerned with the smallish windows & lack of visibility.

Thanks for that opinion. I'll make sure I pay attention to that before we make our final decision.

While sporty & stylish - one does feel like they are sitting in a bathtub with the high door lines. Best wishes on your decision!

CLA45, Night Black on 19" Black wheels.
Drove a CLA in KC this weekend. Overall I Liked it, very similar to my wife's 2008 IS250, but that is thing rattles like a lumber truck.... CLA was lacking some oomph, low HP shows... Back window is tough, somewhat hard to back into spot at dealer but car had camera, if you do a lot of parallel parking you'll want camera / park assist.

Yesterday, I put my name behind our dealer's first CLA45 AMG on order, ETA is still TBD.

C300 Sport/Palladium Silver on Black/P2
CLA is a good, new, car.

However, at the price point, hard not to choose a RWD C Class, still such a solid car.

Plus, since C Class is in the last year of W204, the deals are vastly better than the CLA.
