A road bike fits in the boot of a CLA.
Before buying my CLA I was keen to know if I could get a road bike in the boot of the car. I ride with a club and they start most of their rides 6 miles away from my home address. I joined a few CLA forums (not this one) but got no replies as to if it would fit in the boot. I was concerned about the small boot opening.
My previous car was a BMW 420i Gran Coupe M-Sport which has a big hatch back, so access wasn't a problem.
Anyway, for any cyclists out there, it does fit with the back seat folded down and the front wheel removed. Hope this helps any budding CLA owners with the same question.
I usually take off the front wheel and lower the saddle, then my road bike fits fine with the seats down. I throw a blanket under it to keep things clean. Just in case something happens when I’m transporting it or riding, I also got cyclist insurance through Sundays—they cover both theft and damage, which gives me peace of mind, especially when I’m carrying the bike in the car often.
Not specifically related to the CLA, but for me it's the faffing around with lifting the bike in there with the center of gravity away from one's body. It's awkward to load. Also in my case having a two door, I can't easily reach in to the back seats to adjust it and all pretty much has to happen from behind the car. So, I use a SeaSucker rack to attach the bike to the roof. Mounts and dismounts in under a minute and much easier to lift it up there than stuffing it in the trunk.
