In MB.OS there is no Routines app: the car automatically learns regular actions - in my case after routinely activating the massage function for the driver, after a few days a new button appeared on the Zero layer (Home screen) of the main display that I can use to activate it without diving through the menus. There is no way of which I am aware to be able to edit.
Because of Over The Air (OTA) updates and the concept of Software Defined Vehicles (SDV) there is nothing preventing Mercedes Benz from enhancing and updating this feature in the future. Even without waiting for a Dealer update linked to a Service appointment.

EDIT. Nevermind. Didn't read all posts but congrats on your new EV. Let's see what you've got and post some pics. You definitely have the latest tech that MB has to offer with MB.OS

But also setting for the dashcam (a digital extra i have paid for,) the documentation metions autostart and loop recording, bu all i can do is start or stop it, and even then the media doesn't auto overwrite as the manual indicated it should.

I cannot comment on not overwriting, I have not gone there.
As previously discussed here, Routines does not exist for this model.
The menu hierarchy may be subject to change with updates, and that could be why there is no explicit chart as such.
Have you tried asking the Virtual Assistant to show you stuff?

yes i have tried asking the virtual assistant, but it seems to get confused....
I have even used the incar manual from the menu system, it describes routines and templates exactly as i expect, but when it tells me to find the option, the option doesnt exist.
this is all very frustrating......

What you are describing with the Zero Layer UI is not the same or a replacement for routines. That's a feature of the Zero Layer UI since before routines. The routines feature was added later. It first appeared in the W214 E-Class. Routines are meant for you to set up "if then" automations. They go beyond just learning what features you use most often and bring them to the foreground. They can be much more complex, although, the routines in the W214 are fairly limited. As somebody who has a smart home, routines/automations is what brings it to live. Letting you have things happen automatically around the house based on natural triggers and not requiring you to interact with a device at all. For example I have an automation that closes my garage door automatically if it was left open for 10 minutes, or when I come home and open the door between sunset and sunrise, the lights in my entry area of the house automatically turn on. It's triggered by the door sensor sensing that the door was opened and doesn't require pressing a button. Similar in the car, routines could turn on the seat heater if the outside temperature is below a certain temperature, or say automatically turn on the seat massage after an hour of driving. Things like that. An AI can't learn this. This is something you need to setup yourself, or tell an AI that you want this to happen and then it can create a specific routine for it. The Zero Layer UI may learn that you use the seat heater frequently at certain times and bring it up, but you still have to press the button to turn on the seat heater. That's not a routine/automation. An AI however could suggest to create a routine that turns it on at a specific time every time you drive the car, but for example it'd be hard for an AI to learn that I want my garage door to close automatically if it was left open. I would have to explain that to an AI first, so it can then create a routine for me.
Sounds like with the new OS, routines is something that wasn't ready to go right away, or they may have determined that few people are using it and decided to drop it.

(All manuals > CLA Saloon October 2025 C174 MBUX > routines)
It doesn’t mean that the function won’t exist but may show up later or by another name.
So you likely have to live without it for the time being.
This is going to be the new operating system for all Mercedes models moving forward so you will see a lot of updates and improvements in the future.
Don’t expect any knowledge or assistance from the dealer;
too new and they are slow to train…
Enjoy your new ride!

To the point of @W205C43PFL the manual entry is incorrect, but @ianamurray with MB.OS you do have a car with a completely new software architecture and Operating System. Will Routines or something similar come in due course? Who knows! Maybe try Mercedes Customer Service, or maybe there are other Forum Members with an inside track. Meanwhile, if you are consistent in for example setting the first and last destinations of the day, the car will learn this and propose them at the appropriate (general) time of day. Similarly as I mentioned for the driver massage function. But compared to defining your own flows it is indeed hit and miss.
PS: I spent a good hour this morning working through the menus and discovered a few things - nothing new though, more like reflections of what is available via the MercedesMe app. The other day I also discovered how to edit the list of recent destinations that annoyingly has no easy option when viewing the list. I cannot remember it - will try tomorrow to reproduce and document it. As with all User Interfaces, there is room for improvement in both usability and functionality.
