Flaky app or flaky sensor’s?

Picked up a new CLA 250 + EQ AMG edition premium plus.
Is the Mercedes me app generally flaky as well as limited in functionality?
The reason I ask, is the app keeps telling me the car is unlocked and 3 of the doors are open, but they are not.
The comms between the app and car, even when both connected to my WiFi, is intermittent and the app doesn’t display the current time sometimes, but other times it’s okay.
Opening and closing the doors a few times and deleting the app and reinstalling it seems to have stabilised it for now, but I have found that I just use the physical key now and ignore the app.
My wife’s app also has the same issues.
My last car was a Tesla model 3 and the app functionality is excellent and the connectivity I found to be flawless over a period of three years, so that’s my comparison.
Are there any updates or subscriptions that might make it better?
Cheers
Iggy

Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your new Mercedes!

The answer to your question is Neither: it is not the app nor the sensors. The problem lies in connectivity issues with the Communications Module in the car that is being increasingly reported on related forums. There is apparently a software update for this - my own car is going to the Dealer in a couple of weeks to look at this and another reported problem.

Early versions of cars in general and software in particular do eventually throw up glitches that were not caught in test phases, no matter how thorough. But the MercedesMe app itself is long-established and very stable in all the years that I have been using it, both with Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) and EVs. So you should not be unduly worried but you definitely should share your experience with your Dealer and keep an eye open here for news about fixes.

Enjoy!

PS: Tell us a bit about where you are and about the car - pictures are often appreciated 🙂

Thanks for the update, I appreciate it.
I will get on to the dealer and see if I can get it updated.
I in Brighton south UK, the car does look good, I must admit.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new car!

If memory serves the Tesla Model 3 uses Bluetooth (BLE) & NFC for the lock/start function. That should be quite inferior to the Ultra Wide Band (UWB) used for the Mercedes Digital Key. So, if anything, the Mercedes should work better than the Tesla. The question before trying to figure out the digital key itself is the compatibility of the phone.

Do your phones have the UWB chip?
If so, you only use the app to generate the Digital Key and then add it to the phone and watch wallet app and share it. In express mode you never need to use the phone for anything, or the key.

This is different on phones without UWB. Knowing what phone you use may also help with trying to figure out why the app is flaky...
