Rear window heating elements with "gaps"

I turned the rear window defrost on because the window was foggy. I noticed the top 4-5 "lines" don't appear to do anything. Meaning, the window defrosts but not for the top 4-5 inches of the window.

I took a closer look and noticed some of the electrical(?) lines have gaps in them. You can see them in the picture below. Does anyone else notice this on their cars?

Do you see the same issue where the top 5 or so rows don't appear to do anything?

Those of you who got your tinting done, was this through the dealership or 3rd party somewhere else?

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet (MY18 A238)
My W205 CClass had the same- the bit you’ve discovered that doesn’t warm up with the heating element is likely to be your antenna for the radio.
