Latest spy photos of A25 AMG
It's expected to be four-wheel drive with its power coming from a heavily modified version of Merc’s current M271/M274 petrol engine.
Mercedes-Benz High Performance Engines, the German car maker’s Nottingham-based subsidiary that builds F1 engines, has been involved in the development of the 2.0-litre engine, which Merc insists will have a higher power output that the Audi’s 2.0-litre 335bhp unit doing duty in the RS3.
The new engine is also earmarked for the larger CLC25 AMG and CLC25 Shooting Brake AMG, both scheduled to be launched next year.

I think that description/prediction of power & AWD for the forthcoming "A" series, is a bit over the top, at this stage.

Firstly lets get some technicalities correct - the RS3 has an IL5 2.5ltr engine, same as used in the TT/RS and is going to be used in a whole host of new Audi models...and the title of this thread should denote A45 not 25.
Looks like there's going to be not one but multiple AWD A Class variants, the aforementioned A45 and CDI variant/s also utilising AWD.
The A45 will feature a 261kw/450nm 2.0ltr IL4 which will then offer the choice of an enhanced AMG plus power pack option, which will add both more power and torque to what are already impressive numbers - AFAIK this is the most powerful IL4 petrol 2.0ltr production engine ever made.
Can't wait for this model to arrive
