W169 HiD park light replacement

To all those who need to replace the parklights on their HiD equiped A170 / A200, you don't have to completely remove the front bumper (although it is not difficult to do).
You can undo the two screws at the top rear of the bumper (hard to see but pop your head under the wheel arch and where the bumper joins the guard there is an 8mm bolt on both sides), pull the two clips on either side holding the plastic wheel arch on (get a small screwdriver to lever the centre part out or I used a small pair of side cutters slipped between and then levered), remove the two 10mm bolts either side of the grille and the bumper should be able to slide forward enough to allow you to get at the bolt underneath that holds the headlamp on.

Now remove the two bolts on top of the headlamp and you should be able to juggle the whole unit out, unclip the connections on the way and you will now have access to the park lamps. These are small Halogen units with an offset pin so be prepared to pay a small fortune.

Reassembly is the reverse with the exception of when you are sliding the bumper into place there is a slide which you have to engage the bumper into underneath the headlamp about where the park lamp is and make sure the plastic tags at the front of the bumper straddle the headlamp correctly. Everything should then bolt up easily.

If you felt you wanted to remove the bumper, it is very easy, just remove the 7 bolts and some clips underneath, disconnect the lights and sensors and the bumper will fall away.

Hope that this helps. btw the indicators can be accessed by a flap under the wheelarch.

Cheers

Shane
