What component in SAM (only front SAM exists)
So - no rear lights except brake lights, no interior lights, no rear wiper, no radio, no turn signals rear or front, not positions in front - this happens sometimes:
Long list of faults in SAM in Xentry.
Owner had battery paracitic drain that got worse, problem with central locks and couldnt open trunk.
Some one got the idiotic idea to take a battery from a car he had stand and not been started for years (like 4-5 years). Flat battery of course.
So he charged it.
Then tried to but in the car - and the plus pole flashed.
He then talked to the same person who recommednded to take the old battery- He charged it some more and but then the battery in the car and didnt take off the pole untill the battery boiled.....
After that no lights, no radio.
No finely he took the car to me (a friend).
And here we are.
I am going to take the SAM to an other friend of mine who is an electronic repair man. To test the other components as well
All the fuses on the side are intact.
I was prepared to find a whole a lot bigger mess....
Any ideas?
The fuses are located here:
Fuses are intact
What is this component?
The component is a diode, most likely a power diode given the size. These tend to be common electronic parts costing a few cents to few dollars. Find someone with the part intact to get you the marking on the part and use that to search for details. You may be in luck for a cheap fix if that's the only damage. Good luck.
I have found out so far - it didnt help changing the diode. There were several similar diodes on the card.
I later saw also that several components had been hot. So perhaps a relay had gone as well.
So I have changed the whole SAM - from a A class - didnt need to program enything on it.
Everything else works now - except rear position lights and the radio.
There seem to be a fuse on the radio so Ill take it out today and see if thats gone.
The rear position lights dont get signal for some reason. And I cannot find any fuses on that circuit. So thats a mystery so far.
Next to take the radio out.
