W169 - ECU Firmware Update (A200 Petrol)

Hello guys,

I've just went to Mercedes-Benz dealership following the TAKATA Airbag recall and they changed me my driver's airbag. However, I look into the history of my 2005 car (only 89k km by the way) and it only got the drilling of manual gearbox done to make any excess of water to go out of the gearbox. Apparently, some cars between 2004-2007 would had to update their ECU (recall from 2007) because it may lead to some lag during acceleration. When my engine is idling, it is very stable no issue at all. I got this issue from time to time when filling in up Unleaded gasoline 95 Ethanol E5 but when putting in Unleaded gasoline 98 E5 (Total Excellium) that issue seems to appear less.

I asked the dealership for a software update (via their Xentry DAS tool) but the technician guy said he won't do it for me... wanted to ask you guys if someone could help me as I've already managed to grab an Xentry DAS version (from 2016) but I think find any updates to push into my cars (guess I need an online valid account which I don't). Would appreciate your insight regarding those lag during acceleration and software/firmware update on our Mercedes-Benz cars. Making me think that my next car would be a Tesla cause at least software buggy-fix updates are automatically pushed to their customers (like Apple) which is better (and free of charge).

Cheers,
-Tan

Hey, thanks for your reply. I managed to perform installation to enable Offline programming on my Xentry DAS version (late 2016) which should be enough for my old car. For sure, my car would need an ECU/Gateway updates since it is from October 2004 and there has been many updates going on. Before going further, I read that after flashing the new firmware update, I may need to perform some SCN coding. But that requires Online Xentry connection. Is that true? Do I need SCN coding when flashing new firmware or SCN coding is only required when changing ECU box, Gearbox with new hardware? I don't wanna risk to 'brick' my ECU software after flashing with new ECU otherwise it will be expensive to repair... thank you!

For those who are interested, I have managed to find SDFlash from 2008 up to 2017 for Offline programming... but didn't test it so far.
Any sharing of knowledge on Xentry DAS Offline programming appreciated!

Hi! How did you find out that there were many updates, and what exactly was updated? Is there anywhere I can read about this?
