Differential swap
I've got a ( w114 ) 280C with its standard 3.69 differential ratio and want to replace it with the 2,88 rear end ratio from a (w123) 1985 300TD . Does anyone know if this can be swapped ?
Reason being : the original 280C tire size being 185/78-14's have been replaced with 245/60-14's and because of the smaller diameter of the tires the engines RPM's are much higher . I love the look of the wider tires on all fours and its stance being lower to the ground so I have to change the rear end gears to keep decent mileage and RPM's back to normal.......

Diff swap - but ABS query
I have a 1992 W124 230TE estate. It currently has a 3.27 diff, giving 70mph cruising at 3500 rpm. I'd prefer to drop the cruising revs down a bit - 3.07 and a high 2.xx diffs are available (which would drop the engine revs to around the 2500/2600 level), so swapping them over should be straightforward, BUT the ABS system on the car is the hybrid one, with sensors on the two front wheels and on the prop shaft input to the diff. If I change the diff ratio the ABS unit will think the rear wheels are revolving at a different speed from the fronts by virtue of the slower prop speed. HAs anyone successfully swapped a diff in similar circumstances to me, and how did they overcome the ABS sensor issue?
