R107 1978 v8 3.tltr
Hi folks my mercedes r107 1978 v8 3.5ltr k jetronic wont tick over and is a bad starter now.
last week it was blowing smoke out of the back also felt under power having no kick down. I fiddled under the bonnet one night only to find the next day the smoke had stopped and it was back to full power, kick down was fine. After a lenthy journey i attempted to start it with great difficulty. It needed full throttle and the smoke has appeared again . Although once reving it certainly has full power.it just wants to die and does on tick over and its terrible to start with smoke of course. Can anyone help me please .

hi i mean at idle no throttle. It was driving perfecr. After a long drive i got back in it and it was hard to start and just wanted to die. I had to keep the revs high to get home. I noticed it was also smoking . Ive checked the oil and its orange in colour and hasnt burnt i drop. I think its fuel smoke ?

Orange oil?
What color is Antifreeze?
Might have anti-freeze in oil and that is bad as ruins bearings.
Might have head gasket problem.
IS oil level over full?
Do a compression check but make sure oil is good.

Ive now replaced all the components at the tank, pump, accumalator, filter. Ive smoke tested it for vacuum leaks whilst holding the air fliw meter open to allow smoke to pass.
ive now noticed someone has bodged the mixture screw as its been replaced with silicon. However It did run ok before like this. Ive got new injectors, seals and seats coming. Plus rotar cap and arm even tho mine look fine. It did fire up yesterday from cold but doesnt liken idling and its smoking ?
