WTB: Early e500 300mm brembo brakes

I'm trying to track down a set of 300mm brembo brakes, (or at least the calipers) from a pre '93 e500. These are the aluminum calipers that so many people replaced because of the noise/vibration problems. If you've got a set lying around that you'd like to part with, please let me know.

Thanks

my friend has a mint set. he got them from his service manager. they were taken off in '93 for the recall campaign and never used since and are in truly amazing condition. piston seals are 100% perfect. i handled them myself and i was veyy impressed by how light they are compared to the ATE brake calipers from '93 on. the service manager actually gave him 2 sets, he sold the first set in january and will be selling the second set when he gets around to it. he is a member of MBWorld, so i will have him send you a PM.

Thanks for the info. I think I know the person who purchased the first set. What's your friends screen name? (I'll check with him, but if we are talking about the same person, I think that his asking price may be substantially above market value. It's worth a shot though).

Thanks

CynCarvin32 is his name, send him a PM if you like. the 500e brembos list for 850 a piece if i remember correctly. he sold the first set for less than the cost of one new one from MB and, like i said before, these are as good as they get imho.

he had a standing offer for 200 or 300 bucks from a friend of ours in orange county, but i told him to put them up on ebay and they ended up going for what i expected their value to be. a gentleman in san diego bid the reserve and that was that, nice guy too. market value is whatever the market will pay; it would stand to reason that CynCarvin32 will expect to get the same money for the second set. It never hurts to ask him tho!

No doubt, if he can get $800 for a set, then he should do it. I just wont pay that much for them since the rest of the sets that I've seen for sale (I either passed because I thought I had different plans at the time, or ended findig them shortly after they have sold) have gone for around $500-600. Usually including all the accompanying hardware. Pristine condition or not, that makes it hard for me to justify spending several hundred more for just a set of bare calipers. Especially when I can get C32 calipers for a fraction of the cost.

Like you said, it's worth a shot though. I'll drop him a line and see what he says. I won't be offended if he says he wants to hold out for more than I'm willing to pay.

Thanks again for the tip.
