1986 Mercedes-Benz 300SDL. $7600 OBO
Long wheelbase model with 6-cylinder, turbocharged diesel.
Power seats
Power windows
Power sunroof
Power mirror
Power door locks.
Cruise control
Air bag and ABS brakes.
Smoke silver exterior color. (In my opinion, the paint name, "Rauchsilber", or "smoke silver" is rather misleading. It's more like "Champagne", or "gold", than "silver").
Suitable for biodiesel use.
Red leather interior.
Highway fuel economy: 26-30 MPG.
Large capacity fuel tank.
240K miles.
In my ownership since 1994 .
Excellent for crash survival.
Kenwood AM/FM Cassette-CD stereo removable faceplate , remote 10 CD changer with extra CD magazines.
Upgraded speakers.
Newer style alloy wheels
Bridgestone Potenza tires
Cold air conditioning, converted to R-134 with new compressor and parallel flow condenser, auxiliary fan, a/c manifold conversion to Aeroquip fittings.
Catalytic converter removed under Mercedes recall.
Turbocharger replaced at the same time.
All front suspension wear components replaced.
Well maintained, with regular changes of Chevron Delo 400 diesel oil, and German filters.
Upgraded headlights and relays.
Trailer hitch, rated 3500 pounds tow, 350 pounds tongue weight. Includes trailer wiring relay and short circuit protector. Only used occasionally for towing small utility trailer.
Factory alarm system disconnected due to frequent false alerts.
Many parts have been replaced. They include: timing chain, radiator, hood hinges, floor mats, windshield, heater monoflow fitting, alternator, starter, vacuum pump, EGR , HVAC control panel, HVAC vacuum actuators, injection pump delivery valve seals, window motors and switches, shock absorbers, calipers and rotors, wiper pump, transmission filter, fuel injectors, glow plugs, central locking pump, new rear brake pads.
Passed DEQ easily, but is now exempt from testing.
