Nobody? okay, well let me try this then.

I've gotten a few different answers to this question...

I know the part number for the replacement changer ends with 3889. I've seen several on eBay that claim to fit ML's but they have part numbers ending in 1389. Is this a pre-fiber optic changer? Thanks for the help.

Have you tried www.crutchfield.com they have a changer for my 1998 c230. They might have it for yours. Plus this place is legit so no worries.

Yeah I checked Crutchfield. Two problems...I can get a new changer for the same price at a local shop. Also, Crutchfield was pretty vague as to applications. "Fits most newer Mercedes" etc. Most importantly, though, I was hoping to find one used, to save $$$$.

changer info

2 things, I just saw on ebay an auction specifically for a fiber optic ML changer, i don't know the price. Also, I'm not sure if my changer would work for your car, it's out of a 98 e430. if you find out it will work, just make an offer. thanx

I've been running into issues trying to determine if certain changers will fit my ML. The most consistent thing I've heard is that only an ML changer will work in an an ML. This I can understand. However, what I can't understand is why I am seeing two different part numbers from people selling changers that will work in "MLs 98-01" or "98 & up." I've seen two part numbers more often than any others: 163 820 3889 and 163 820 1389. Apparently, the 3889 model will definitely work. I'm not so sure about the 1389 model.
