AMG CLE 53
Debadge or Not

I am considering debadging my CLE 53 when it arrives. I would remove the “AMG” and “CLE53” from the rear, and the “Turbo 4Matic+” on both sides. Please share your thoughts and experiences with debadged cars. My last 2 Mercedes were debadged and I liked the look. They were silver cars. The new CLE 53 is obsidian black. I’ve seen an obsidian black CLE 53 and the silver badges looked good and provided some contrast. I did not select the darkened badges that are available in the AMG night package plus.

I debadged my C 43 pre-facelift when I first got it new, the 4MATIC BiTURBO badge on both sides, the small amg badge in the diamond pin grille, the amg badge in the rear and the C 43 badge in the rear, I got lazy and kept the calipers the same amg, but all of this is personal preference, I like an understated vehicle.

I think it would look clean without badges on the CLE 53 but at the same time, I think the badges fits the CLE 53 pretty well. Obviously, no one will mistaken the CLE 53 as the CLE 450 or CLE 300 since it has those wide arches and the stance, the panamericana grille, the exhaust pipes, which is not true for the pre-facelift W205 C 43 so after the debadge, that looked like a C 300 which I prefer.

Obviously, there is another way, just dark chrome all those badges but certainly no one will mistaken the CLE 53 as those regular MB models with the aforementioned changes plus there is no CLE 63 yet so no one will think you are debadging to pretend something you aren't. Last but not least, CLE 53's horsepower is literally 63 territory not long ago.

I always debadge my MB's, first thing I do after delivery.

As far as the CLE 63, it may not happen. MB is floating a possible brand new S Coupe with V-8, Hybrid or full electric. Videos on Youtube.

My CLE AMG53 has the obsidian black badging and against the white pearl it looks clean.
With darker colors (Black/Blue) they seem to blend in to the body work much more significantly.
Question: do you have a special method of removing the badging or does someone take care of for you?

The dealer will do it for me.

I just use a heat gun at low setting and dental floss. It works fine and wipe off excess adhesive with goof off or similar cleaner. You can save the emblems for reattachment later.
