Hi everyone,
I recently took delivery of my 2024 CLE53 and I’m pretty disappointed in the lack of emotion from the exhaust. Are there any mods I can do to make it more lively without voiding the warranty?

See if driving it more will open it up especially after break-in.
Eh. Just go enjoy the car. Lots of great things about it and fun to drive.
I used to be about exhaust, but I had an electric before this car and got over the whole exhaust thing. I live in a big city and now appreciate cars that are quieter than having to hear obnoxious noise coming from other cars driving around.
The real car guys market hasn't jumped on to this car. Not seeing exhausts or any mods at all. Just a bunch of bougie videos driving around the hillside.
Been doing a little research on this exhaust flap controller and supposedly it makes a difference. It's plug and play so you can remove it when you goto MB (very easy!). Haven't personally used it but after a few videos on youtube looks like a good starting place.

I'm in the same situation also looking to "improve" the exhaust sound. I am confused about the operation of the flaps and some CLE53's don't seem to have the Exhaust Button.
The Flaps are supposedly Computer Controlled so are not on/off like previous systems. My experience is that the flaps don't do much for sound. Yes, I can hear a difference but the overall sound is lacking "emotion".
I'm still researching options and won't do anything that voids the warranty or violates emissions. I like the idea of flaps to control the overall volume of the sound I'd just like it louder than the current levels. I don't want the exhaust to be too raucous but, if it could sound just like my 2019 C43 that would be great.
From what I've seen from the MB Parts List catalog (the service manager printed it out for me) there are 2 "cans" between the cat and the mufflers with the flaps and the very end. I'm guessing that these "cans" are resonators or additional mufflers. As I understand it resonators are supposed to condition the exhaust sound with selective frequency suppression while mufflers just reduce the overall exhaust volume. So, when I figure out which is which, I can make a decision.
One or both of these cans are targets for removal and replacement with straight pipe which should be a pretty straightforward mod. This will give the mufflers more volume to work with and increase the exhaust sound. I don't expect any power increase but removing anything that impedes exhaust flow might do something. Hey, the car will sound faster so...

I wonder how hard it is find the 4 wires that you need to connect this thing to? I watched the youtube video of the guy installing it on the C43, but that only has 2 wires and they were right there when you lift up the thing in the trunk. I briefly looked on mine, over by the fuse box and there's not wires clearly in view that aren't part of a larger cluster of wires all "banded" together.... I just don't want to buy the thing and not be able to install it.

Yeah, im in the same boat. Gonna check again later this week to see where those wires are. I also seen the C43 video and it looked so easy lol.
Edit: Sick you're in LA btw! I'm in Sherman Oaks! Nice to meet a fellow CLE owner fairly close.

Interesting, I wonder why some don't have the button, unless PE is not standard?

The current configurator has the "AMG Real Performance Sound" option
On the window sticker, it's called "Switchable Engine Sound"
If you go onto some dealer websites and check the window stickers of the CLE53's, every single one that I've looked at has this option. It's possible that there's some that don't have this option, but it appears that most do..

I emailed ASR and asked if they had installation instructions and they replied saying that they don't have instructions for the CLE specifically but it's similar to the E63 and GLE63. They sent me the instructions, the GLE, being an SUV doesn't seem anything even similar. The E63 does seem similar, but both are completely different than the C63 and C43 install videos on youtube. Those are about as easy as it gets, you pull up the trunk mat, you see the wires, you plug the module in between one of the plugs and you are good to go. The E63 module has 4 wires instead of 2 wires with the C43, and not only that, you have to find the place in the trunk where it has wires going out the bottom of the trunk to the outside near the exhaust, run the 4 wires thru that "hole", find the wires/plugs for the flaps, run the wires and plug in the plugs. WAY more difficult than the C43/63 install on youtube.
If I get the module, I was thinking of bringing it to the shop that works on my 69 Camaro, not that they would know much about a new Mercedes, but they could put it on the lift which would make it way easier to find the connectors under the car... Or, I could try to find an independant Mercedes shop, but they may not know much more than my other shop.
I have the instructions if anybody wants me to email them to you, let me know.

I see, so "switchable engine sound" is what we were looking for, you need to have that option to have a button to control the sound.

I see, hopefully it is not the way how it is installed on the R232 SL, that has to be installed from the undercarriage.

i just installed the titanium catback exhaust from germancaraccessories. More pops, sounds good.

I know that Porsche has OAPs which are like secondary mufflers to meet the European noise standards and at least with the Porsche you can remove them here in the US legally and they don't throw any codes. dunno if the AMG is the same way but it's def. something I plan on exploring after I pick mine up. In fact I almost didn't even order the "synthesized sound" for $550 and would go straight to exhaust mods but then the smart side of my brain took over...
if anyone wants to check out the aftermarket RES exhaust, I just did an extensive video, of fly bys mic'ed up, interior and exterior shots as well as talking about how to purchase the exhaust and pricing. Check it out here! 🙏🏻
