I couldn't agree more. I am also pissed they re-used the C 43 name in the form of W205 C 43 and W206 C 43 when the W202 C 43 should be honoured as it was the first or one of the first V8 AMG was it?

In terms of engine designations, I believe as some stated that due to euro regulations, if the engine is over the decimal, it is rounded up.

They should had called it the S design not s line, s line makes people think it is part of the s which is the performance family. On the other hand, bmw, has m sport, m performance, m power which m sport too sound like it is from the performance division. Of course last but certainly not least mb used sport package in different countries and they also called those amg line, again, the line name could had been better utilized in my opinion.

Obviously, we couldn't forget that amg wasn't part of mb back in the days, before mb took over it.
Amg was tuning Mitsubishi as well. Story for another time : )
