Recently, I’ve had multiple drivers pull up next to me to let me know that my 'rear Mercedes emblem' is open. While I appreciate their concern, it’s starting to get a bit bothersome, as this happens several times a week. For context, I know the rear camera is functioning perfectly—it’s designed to tilt open when in use as part of the car’s safety system, particularly when the car is stopped or reversing.
When I politely explain that this is intentional and not a malfunction, I’m often met with skeptical or dismissive responses like, 'Okay, good luck with that.' It’s getting a little frustrating, and I’m curious if anyone else with a similar setup has experienced the same. Do people assume it’s broken, or do they just not know how these systems work?

I mean to bystanders, yes it does look strange, think of like you accidentally popped open the fuel cap door and forgot to close it, or they thought the MB logo is coming apart. Originally Posted by duffer5

It didn't use to do that at least not unless the camera needs to be used, there was a strange change by MB as discussed in this thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...very-stop.html
Yes bystander, it’s the gun port. Be careful not to stand in its direct line of fire.
