It shares the same engine as the facelift E coupe same M256 but tuned differently plus the E 53 has a supercharger. If you are into daily driving pleasure, E 53 of course but given it is a sporty car, the ride and the transmission is not the best for daily driving say, stop and go traffic.
I'm usually a spirited driver so that’s hard to resist, but I’m also a mom lol I ended up cancelling my appt at Thousand Oaks because it’s a two hour drive and it’s 96 degrees today so I really don’t want to be in the car that long 🫠

2 hour woah, I see, the E 450 coupe pre-facelift is not fun but depending the options like active body control it should help when cornering. With 362 horsepower still very healthy numbers.

The transmission is more layback and won't shift as crisp as an E 53.

If you want, you could shop for a 2018 E 43 sedan of which has the same reliable M276 engine, not sure you want to go back that much though. It seems like you prefer a newer vehicle which to be fair that is very reasonable. Who doesn't. However, the E 43 transmission isn't known for its smoothness.
I still just recommend an E 450 for that reason.

Drove one, just because there wasnt an hardtop in inventory. I liked the exhaust note, I didnt care for the stiffer susoension or maybe the continental RF tires, IDK... I have RF on my E-450 and they dont feel nearly as harsh but mine are Michelin vs Continental. Might be the difference. In Sport+ I can feel the suspension stiffen and thats plenty for me on mottled local roads. On the smooth highway there is no difference from comfort to Sport+.
If I get tired of the 362HP I may consider a piggyback tuner to kick it up, I hear 50+ HP onn the JB4 tuner is reliable and cheap annnd 412HP is plenty for me to stick my foot into. Drive both the 450 and the 53, I think the smart bargain is the 450.

Just a thought, not sure it would work out, however ask the Thousands Oaks dealer drive the car to you. Some dealers will do this if they are willing to earn your business. I'm not sure 2 hours (although Cali - that might be 18 miles LOL) is within their circumference of willingness.

Not sure about Sunday and dealers being open (they're closed where I live) and especially since it is Mother's Day as well.

You also get the look of the E 53 it is subjective but it looks better (well, more sporty, obviously), in my opinion. If I recalled correctly, the 53 also is lowered further.

Top notch customer service if true but I would think they prefer coming during business hours instead

It is a good balance I think base is the 300 (In North America at least) then the 450 then 53, 450 is a good balance of power and comfort.

I brought the car to the office today, from the men to the women, younger to older everyone came over and took a look. All agreed that the Machiatto beige / magma grey interior was superb. My Wife loves it, my 15 year old son loves it, and after a pretty crappy day it was a nice break just to spend 30 minutes inside it before reality hit again.
Im rreally thankful that i LOVE this car, I loved my CLK55 in a much the same way. I hope this one treats me just as good.

Regarding your CLE

I’m waiting for the adjuster to call me in regard to the buyback (they approved it on Monday). I’m trying to decide which route to go, should I lease a new CLE450 or CLE53 for 3 years or finance 2020-2023 E450?

I really don’t know what to do, I don’t like the interior dash of the CLE, also the backseat is small (we have two kids), but a friend of mine suggests I should get it because of all the new tech and new improvements to the suspension and drivetrain.

The 2020 E450 that I’m looking at tomorrow looks slightly dated (mainly the steering wheel and the non-touchscreen) but it’s bigger in the backseat and just feels more substantial to me, but would it become problematic soon? Who knows.. Which route should I take? I’ve been losing sleep over this haha it’s so ridiculous, I just don’t want to run into anymore problems like I’ve had with the EQS I’m also scared of the tablet screen in the CLE since that happened to me today where I couldn’t turn on the AC and it was 92 degrees outside 🥵

Also has anyone had any experience with a buyback through Mercedes? I heard from some that they would help with a discount on your next vehicle if you choose a Mercedes, is that true?

Thanks everyone, I know it’s a lot…

I can relate as I have to lemon cars Mercedes had to buy back. With all the issues you stated, you will have no problem with them buying it back. Depending on how early you had the first issue, they should pay you back the majority of your money and be happy you had the car all the time to drive practically for free.

As far as your other question, I also had an e450 convertible (two of them) which were great cars. Now I bought a CLE 53 convertible. Do not get the 450. Get the cle-53 convertible. It is an amazing car. Sporty but elegant and fast as hell.

I have stayed away from their electrical cars even though they've been almost giving them away for free due to the extreme discounts. I think Mercedes jumped the gone with electric cars and the whole EQ idea was terrible. They need to make their normal cars and gas or electric like BMW did and I heard this will be next.

Well, good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Yup they developed a shared platform now for both EV and ICE, starting with the new CLA.

That platform is called MMA, it will be used for other models of MBs relatively soon.
