Convertible Top Issue Query

Does MB still suffer from convertible top cabling issues?
Was thinking of going back to a cabriolet and there aren't many choices these days.
I had issues with the cabling on my 2013 E350 cabriolet.

2025 CLE 53 Cabriolet
I've had a 2018 C43 cab, a 2022 E450 cab and now a 2025 CLE cab and have never had any issues with the tops . To be fair I don't drive a lot ( 20K per year ) and I'm aware of others who haven't been so lucky , but obviously I'm confident that the enjoyment in driving a cab is worth the potential risk .

Ha! I just got rid of my 2017 Jaguar F-TYPE Cabriolet, and replaced it with a CLE53 AMG Cabriolet. A while back, the Jag's top would not unlatch, so it was stuck in the up position.. There are provisions to manually put the top up, but NOT DOWN! So, it was all but impossible to fix the thing. Jag wanted $20,000 to do so.

The guys who designed this thing were no doubt former Lucus (Prince of Darkness) engineers. The car was beautiful, but the electrical type stuff was... well...

Anywho, there is nothing that scares me about the Mercedes top. If it were to fail, I am sure it was designed to actually be fixed.

It seems like the cabling seems to shred over time. That's not a cheap fix if the warranty is over.

After the experience with Jaguar, I'm OK with a one time fix for a few grand. It would seem like a deal to me.

OP, are we talking about this? https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-c...placement.html

The CLE is still too new though so not sure if there is much data to determine if it is actually fixed.
