I wonder if others have observed the following:

The car has not been running. It is parked in the garage overnight and I open the door to get something out of the car. I close the door.

Then I hear a series of noises, likely solenoids actuating, from all areas of the car. This will continue for 5-10 minutes after the door is closed.

I did ask my service representative when I was visiting the dealership and he said it was normal.

Doesn’t sound normal to me.

Any others having this experience?

Yes. I noticed it in the rear of the vehicle.

Yes. Totally normal. The car thinks you're gonna take her for a spin...then she's disappointed.

So you you know what systems are being actuated and why?

I' m not sure what procedures the hardware/software is following.
I've come to get used to that mechanical music as I pass by the car or go to the trunk/front seat.
Funny, now I would worry if I did not hear anything.

Seems a common trait in many new vehicles - certainly in the more complex ones like the mid-hybrid CLE53. Tried to find the exact sources after first hearing it with little success, clipped one of the summaries below.

Though normal. I always wonder what's going on when hearing the sounds - not worried really since the triggered events are probably a minor contributor to overall battery drain when parked for extended periods. And thankfully - they're mildly entertaining when compared to the loud siren-esque cooling fans in my W212 LED headlight housings (Intelligent Light System). Those things cycle on-and-off for a long time after parking in a warm garage. Haven't heard anything yet from the CLE53 LED headlight assemblies - efficiency and heat management designs have come a long way.

Never noticed it. Could be I'm just old and hearing isn't what it used to be due to a misspent youth 10 feet in front of Marshall stacks.. Could be I live in FL with a big AC air handler in the garage running 12 months a year......

I hear the same sounds , guess there's nothing to worry about

This isn’t unique to this car. I’ve heard the same noises from my other cars. The new GMC Canyon does the same.

I think this is normal, at least for MB's and even older models. Have not noticed the same in all my other different brand cars though.
Both my C204 & C205 coupes do it even when I walk passed them whilst locked or unlocked in the garage as long as my fob is on me as well. No fob no noises.
My guess it must sense when your near and may begin system pre-preps or something along those lines.

I was thinking the exhaust valve but it shouldn't be a series of them. There are many solenoids indeed, for example, there is one for the differential (?).

Have you heard anything more about the siren-esque sound coming from the headlight? My 17 GLE43 AMG does the same thing. It’s so annoying.
