Rear Cross Traffic Alert

Anybody else notice the rear cross traffic alert on the CLE53 seems not sensitive enough? Compared to other cars I have experience with the CLE53 cross traffic alert seems to provide a warning very late almost as approaching cars are only a few feet away.

What other cars are those? I don't have experience with the CLE, but on my '19 C63 i also only get the warning when the vehicle is about to cross into my path. Also, it's only active at less than approximately 6 mph. It's meant for when you are backing out of a parking space and going very slowly, so it doesn't have to warn when the other car is still far off. On the contrary, that might actually stop you in your track if it slams on the brakes. I've driven cars, specially Audis, where these systems were way too sensitive and went off while parallel parking and another car drove by w/o even a remote chance of colliding. AMGs in particular have these systems dialed down, because they are meant to be driven more spirited or on a track, so you don't want these systems to jump in and slam on the brakes for no good reason. The forward collision warning is annoying enough on the track and must be disabled. I love how these systems generally aren't overly sensitive in AMGs in my experience. They should be a last resort anyway.

AMG CLE 53
I’ve found that the rear cross traffic system seems to mostly work well. It has picked up cars I didn’t see. It warns when a car is a danger of colliding, but doesn’t alert to cars in the area that have no chance of colliding. With that said, I have had the emergency braking activate while backing (false alarm) when no cars were in the area. It’s quite startling when that happens. There is an OTA update coming for the drivers assistance system in certain 2024 MY CLE 53’s.

I don't remember how to get into it (thanks to my salesman not showing me anything), but there were options to change if warnings are early or late.

I understand your point about the AMG having these systems dialed down and it's great some can be disabled for track driving. My previous E450 picked up cross traffic much earlier so I got used to it.
