Quad Exhaust Functioning

Are the CLE 53 quad exhaust tips functional? Are they just decoration? It’s cold in the northeast and I only see exhaust coming from the driver side (and from only one of the two “pipes”). Is that normal operation?

Based on other car's experience, yes that is normal. Unless you've got it throttled wide open and the engine working hard, there is no need to use both sides of the exhaust. Next time you're driving around or in a parking lot, look at lots of dual exhausts and even twin pipes and you'll see one pipe or side that has some residue (most people don't clean these like they should LOL) and the other side or pipe that is much cleaner.

Lots has to do with cats warming up, valved exhaust components, and all that government restrictions on EPA fuel economy stuff.

didn’t know this. I recall the dual exhaust pipes working at idle on my 2020 C43. And that car got slightly better gas mileage.

thanks for the response - very helpful

The CLE 53's resonators are different left to right. (See picture in the configurator.) The left resonator has two outlets while the right has only one. At low flow the gasses wil take the easiest path. As flow (and back pressure) increase, all paths will be taken.

My C 43 was about 200 pounds lighter than my CLE 53. The hybrid system adds weight, but should pay for itself in increasd city cycle gas mileage. I have seen about 1 mpg less in mostly suburban and highway driving.
