2026 AMG CLE 53

When I was at the dealer they showed me where I could change the exhaust sound between two choices. Brought car home and there was an update which I did and now I can't seem to find that setting . It is the only one mising. Not sure what I did but if anyone could help I would appreciate it very much!

Thanks!

Do you have the drive unit, (those two rotating knobs on the steering wheel) it is a sensor like icon (wave like symbol) that you toggle to switch it, or go to the dynamic select settings (or something along those lines) and configure it there in the infotainment.

On the left side knob of your steering wheel press the upper half or lower half of the display until the exhaust symbol displays. Then you can control the exhaust mode via the corresponding button.

They might had the changed the icon to sensor/coil?
This thing or maybe only the e performance model has this icon? https://www.autoblog.com/.image/MjA5...e=w2560&ar=4-3

Sounds like a borked update. That's the problem with OTA updates. They don't just fix things, they can also break things. Best to take it to the dealership and tell them what happened. They need to relay this back to the mothership.

You can actually edit out the icons/functions on the main dash so they don't appear on the knob. Hit your AMG button under your screen and make sure that all icons are there, if the exhaust icon is not there then just edit it in. Once you do this you'll have the function on the knob. If this does not work go back to the dealer. I doubt the update just completely removed the icon/function, bizarre if so.

The exhaust setting even disappeared from his individual mode settings as shown in the picture above, so something definitely got messed up. That's not a matter of editing it out. It truly looks like his system forgot that the car has adjustable exhaust sound.

The weird thing is I picked the car up that day and drove it home. Soon as I backed in the garage it started saying things like I had an update and it started

Normal to receive new updates as you enter ownership. I recently got a W214 as my new daily and OTA updates only started to happen a few days later, dealerships don't always install the latest updates before delivery or during PDI.

So happen to run my car by the dealership. Had 2 guys come out and look at it. General manager said oh yeah something is missing let me get someone. He grabs the product specialist and he says, yes on your model they took that option off in 2026. My salesman was off and out of town. I said well last week when I picked up the car it was there. He said I'll cancel your service appointment for you. So can anyone comfirm that on a 2026 CLE AMG53 that the option or the little exhaust icon is no longer there??

Thanks

Thats false. The Mercedes website lists it as an option when you try to configure a build for the 2026 model. Also, if you look up 2026 CLE 53 reviews on YouTube you can see the icon on their wheel. If they're giving you **** go to another dealer and ask to take a look at a 2026 model, take a pic of it and send it back to you original dealer.

That’s a bit weird. As far as I know, the 53 has a valved exhaust standard, so taking away the control of it doesn’t make much sense. There is the optional AMG Real Sound as well. Does your car have that? That option places microphones in the exhaust to amplify the sound inside the car with real sound from the exhaust. That option is also tied to the exhaust setting, because the driver may not always want the sound.

I don't have the AMG exhaust just the regular exhaust. He said the only way to open it is to put it in Sport+

Bringing back this post for a second so the new exhaust icon might be the coil/sensor/sound wave icon shown in the picture? The red icon (on) right below the esp off.

The coil on mine is suspension adjustment and there is no wave icon. I did check that.

Is yours a 53? and if so you don't have the exhaust icon on the steering wheel?

Sorry for the confusion, I am not OP but from videos I seen, some cars display the sound wave icon instead of an exhaust icon, I am not talking about the suspension icon that is totally different.

Did you car come with option 339 - Switchable Engine Sound the cost is 550. I believe they removed as standard in 2025.

If not sure check you sticker if do not have that send me your VIN...I work at a MB dealer.

The ones that have the soundwave like icon are the E Performance models. It combines the exhaust sound with the electric sound when the car is driving in EV mode.
