Rattle fix
3000 miles on my CLE 53 Cabriolet. I started to hear rattles from 3 major areas which annoyed me very much. Rather than bringing it to the dealer, I first wanted to see where they are coming from.
1. When the bass is increased way up in personal profile mode, something was vibrating so heavily. I thought it was coming from doors, but it was not. I guess the subwoofer is located behind the driver side footwell under the carpet where brake and accelerator pedals are. To fix this, I put thick sponge between the carpet and the plastic trim on top. Problem number 1 solved.
2. Center console screen. When the screen is not raised up, it brushes the trim on the back. I tried using rubber stoppers first, but it did not work. Then tried putting felt tape on back, the problems number 2 is solved.
3. Head console unit. This sounds just like problems number 2 above. Unattached the head console unit by inserting credit card deep into the front gap from front center, and applying felt tape to the front and both sides. Problem number 3 is now solved.
This should have been done at the factory to begin with. Now I hear sounds that I only want to hear. Well, exhaust notes from exterior is something else that I do not want to get into.
