Question BAS/ESP Malfunction

Hey...This is my first post...great info in this forum...

Anyway, I just recently purchased a 2000 430 and love it. Pretty much stock right now...
After having for 1 month now, the BAS/ESP malfunction has lit up...but after turning off car and and back on the malfunction is no longer saved.

Is that normal...Is there really a malfunction or just Gremlins in the system?

Congrats, and welcome to the board!

Sometimes it is the stop lamp switch. I am having mine replaced today as I have gotten that message in the past. My mechanic hooked up the computer and that was the culprit. Sometimes it comes on, turn the car off and it goes away. There may be other reasons for it to come on, so I don't want to discount those, but this is one reason why it comes on.

Hope this helps!

I had this same issue and after replacing the brake stop sensor behind the brake peddle this went away. It was definately a faulty switch
