Looking to buy a Clk430
What's going on guys. I am looking for a Clk430, most likely a 2000-2001 since i would prefer one with the facelift. Looking at Kbb and sales ads, it appears that there is a big difference between suggested value and market price on these cars. I was just wondering what would be a good deal on this car with around 45-55k miles. Anything I should look out for in terms of having it checked out?

I have recently been helping my younger sister locate her first MB and it seems there is no sense to KBB, NADA or Edmunds for resale values. They are all over the board with values. All things being equal.
As far as what to look for, mostly interior squeeks and rattles or the ocassional annoying interior item like the cup holder not coming up. I have had no real problems with mine, but there was a TSB for the starter needing lubed. It has happened to mine twice and my mechanic simply lubes it and off I go. The car will engage, but not start, and if you turn the car off and retry, it always takes off again. More annoying than anything else.
Fuel gauge sensor is another, others may have more but it really seems to be a solid car in my experience. I have a 99 for sale!

Thanks for the advice guys.......although a clk55 would be great it will be out of my price range for a while, not to mention the insurance on an AMG. I think i will try and find a good condition 430.
Also, if I get one from a private seller, do you guys know if I can take it the car to mercedes to have it checked out all around to make sure there hasn't been any body work done etc. that might not appear on a carfax, or if anything major needs replacement. And if so, any idea how much the dealer would charge and how long it would take them to do something like this.
