Navigation reprogrammed but...
As I posted before, there were some problems with my navigation and I brought my car to the dealer. They reprogrammed it and it looks nicer now. It has the Mercedes logo when I turn it on. And for the point of interest, I can locate the nearest ATM which I didn't have that before. 
After all these great discoveries... I found out that the problems weren't solved AT ALL!!!
It still freeze sometimes and doesn't bring me to anywhere!!!
I am very disappointed, wonder if they make sure everything is fine before they return the car to me

Take it back to the MB dealership and tell your service advisor, that something is very wrong with the software!:
VW logos and dealerships show up on the GSP screen!!!
Then, request that an experienced MB GSP software tech fix your Command problems and list exactly what is bad.
1. No satellites listed as received.
2. ----
3. etc.

All the dealers I have come across [I live in UK] have a nightmare with COMAND - their background just isnt software debugging and they have trouble understanding when a problem may be software or hardware - this is why they follow the "standard" service instructions - which as far as I can ascertain mean :-
Makesure the MAP disk is clean
In the US, install the software upgrade
In EU, if you have voice recognition issue, install the upgrade
If that doesnt work, replace COMAND [which rarely fixes much, since most of the problems are software]
The European S/W upgrade was only just issued, and doesnt officially apply to all versions of COMAND, so before that they just said "such is life" - and us Europeans either accepted it, or have had 3-4 COMAND replacements.
If I was writing the instructuctions, Id *always* install the software upgrade, but sometimes it goes wrong and they have to replace COMAND, so they dont do this

It sounds to me like they havent code your COMAND properly [using their diagnostic system] so is confused, or alternatively it is just plain broken. Id tell them to replace it

Can you get hold of that copy of WIS?
I just spoke to my dealer (UK) and he mentioned in passing that there was an update coming in December sometime.
Do you know what are the major updates?
Anything extra for the old comand system 2.0?

Hi Barflux - the dealer will be receiving that version of WIS - its MB only, so no one else can get hold of it, as I say my dealer received his a couple of days ago, so Id expect yours to arrive very shortly.
There is a software update which they can order, its mentioned in a recent service-info-bulletin thing, which means they can update the software in COMAND if you have a problem with Voice Recognition - however, as its newer software , it will fix problems in older COMANDs so you should persuade them to install it (or just order the service CD and install it yourself ;-) - its part number W 215 589 00 22 00 from memory, about £5 (and MB UK seem to be happy that it can be ordered by anyone)
Technically that update is for MY2001 COMAND, but from what I hear you can install it on any COMAND and it will tell you whether it has newer s/w that the one thats in your COMAND or not)
BTW., the COMAND 2.0 and COMAND 2.5 are called that because of the physical size of the unit (2.0 din units, 2.5 din units) - not because one is a later design. In fact, 2.5 came before 2.0 (ie S/CL)

(b) Hold down MUTE 1 and 3 all together for 10 seconds

My comand unit is according to mercedes UK having a software problem - main problem is - they say they cant fix it at all

Even at its best, that system is...
pretty lame. Cool to play with occsionally, and couple of nice features to have. But I wouldn't dare trust it to get me somewhere.

I have a 2000 E-430 I live in Los Angeles, Ca. I bought the car used and at first I had no problems with the navigation, but now while you are on the road it would display "no route" or sometime "off Road" while in fact I am on a major freeway. It is so frustrating coz sometime it works fine then I would notice the system would display activating navigation system etc.. Please help I liked my navigation while it worked but when it doesnt it make me pull my hair out. I have a 2000 S-500 with navigation too and I have never encountered any problems. Hope you guys can help me out here

Hello Richard , I am hoping you can help me out with my navigation problems, it works fine when I bought the car a few weeks ago (used) the former owner does not always use the navigation, he didnt get the cd changer so he uses the head unit to play his music CD's, and he lost his original navi CD, at first I copied my original CD on my 2000 S-500 and it worked fine I had no problems, but I came about ordering a used original cd on Ebay (California-nevada disc) which according to the seller works with my 2000 E-430, anyway when that cd arrived I put it on and again I have no problems, then there was a time I put a music CD on the drive had it there for a while playing my music CD with no problem, then I had to use my navi again and so I placed my navi CD again and it loaded the program etc etc. since then my navi has been flaky I would be in the middle of a route then it would display no route, I would be in a major freeway then it would say off road, and sometimes it would be fine giving directions then it would go to a screen saying activating navigation etc etc and bring you bacj to the address input screen again. Geez it is so frustrating. here are the parameters I retreived from the unit following your guide: SW VERSION = REL_V05.80, MB NR= 2108204989, HW=15.00, SW=49.99. I hope you can help me figure this out. Thanks in advance
