Spring Pads Same Front and Back?

Hello, i have a question, i purchased some springs pads to lower my rear but they don't fit? Did the dealer give me the wrong vehicle pads or are the front different from the rear? i was not specific on what i wanted (rear or front). Are the front spring pads different from the rear or are they all the same universal fit (front and rear) for the clk?

Well, they should give you CLK or E class spring pads. And stock, the CLK's have a #4 in the front and I think a #3 in the rear. So the only difference in thickness. You can tell what # they are by counting the little nipples on the edge.

There's no "stock" spring shim set up because it varies by the car model as well as the number and type of options. For instance, mine came with #2 front and rear.

Also, the CLK only came with newer E-class shims, although if you change the springs to the old (flat) style, the old shims would work as well.

maybe i wrote the question wrong, but yes i know their are different pads, but i would like to know is if the front spring pad can work in the rear and the rear can work in the front. When i installed my springs i remember the fronts being larger than the rears, so that's why i'm asking. When i go to the dealer do i have to specific and say #2 rears or #2 fronts?

Pads

Hi, you do have to specify front or rear. Just fyi I installed eibach springs and used #2 pads on the front and #1 pads on the rear.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the...

208 uses the 202 spring pads setup, not the 210. No matter though, you're correct, the fronts won't work in the rear, and vice versa.

(sorry not trying to hijack the thread, but not too many I've seen with Goodyear F1's)

speedo19, F-1 Supercar or F-1 GS-D3? What's your impression? I have the GS-D3 18's staggered setup and really am happy with them compared to the Conti's.

Tyres

I have had the G3's (same size all around as I have a 320) and compared them to Bridgestone, Yokos and Michelins and in my opinion they were better overall than all of them. I use the car for hotlaps when coaching my racing clients so I was able to get a good comparison at speed. The F-1's are very forgiving in the dry and a very good tyre in the wet. The price is the only drawback. My surprise was that even with the open tread pattern they did not wear worse than the others, the Yokos were the worst in that category but also the cheapest.
later...

Glad they worked out...

and the H&R's are coming off today if anyone needs them. From V8 convertible, but from reading other threads here, looks like they will work on other 208 as well. Bout $100 plus shipping.
Did getting the rear shocks right help your ride height problem?

Yes, my rear shocks were sagged totally all teh way to the bump stops. I put the koni's on the middle setting on the rear, (which they were on), and it lifted it up nearly 1/3 inch which made the perfect gap. On the front i went wtih the soft setting, and my car rides better than ti did with the stock shocks.
