finished turbo kit fabrication
the turbo fabrication is done and it will get installed either this weekend or next week can't waite for the sweet sound of spooling and the blow-off valve. will keep everyone posted. i will start with only about 4-7 ponds of boost. and then will see how it will go. starting without an intercooler and i will add that on once i go higher boost and get this it will be a single turbo not twin(no twin turbo lag). all this thanks to my good friends that helped me out a lot with this kit. test drive anyone?

The amount of lag on any turbo system depends on the size of the turbo (and the flow of the exhaust to the turbo).
Your single turbo may lag less than some twin set-ups but it probably is not capable of running very high boost. Of course for your set up that is exactly what you want. In general I would say that twin setups lag less than single setups, even when the twin setup is 1 turbo per bank of cylinders. Of course when you have your two turbos set up inline you can have no lag and very high boost. One small turbo feeds a larger turbo.
Keep us updated and post pics soon!!!!! This is Awesome.

nice, i must admit i was skeptical at first, but i read up on it some last night and i began to think otherwise. What did you do for a turbo exhaust manifold? How are your computers set up to handle it? Any parts lists or pictures or instructions you could post up would really be awesome. What was the final cost?

clk 320 turbo kit
i am running a T3 turbo. i was gonna use a t25 turbo but i will losse top end. with the T3 turbo i will lag on the bottom end because of the bigger turbo but my top end is gonna be great. and i found a trick that saved me the hassel of fabricating a manifold. and for the people that think the twin turbo laggs less than single turbo it's exactly the other way around. at the moment i decided to change the turbo from the T25 to a T3 and i'm using an intercooler and an external wastegate so i have to change some stuff around but with the T25 it ran pretty good. but i'm only looking at a maximum boost of 8psi because of my stock internals. my friend used the same set up on his C-class and he was boosting 9 psi with no problems. once the setup gets installed i will post photos and i will be in the NESEI week import show off in dowtown (little tokyo) los angeles so come out and have some fun.

i thought the twin set-up with a small and big turbo lags less.... u get boost at low end from the smaller turbo and then when the small turbo can't handle the high boost it switchs to the bigger turbo? and at the same time the small turbo keeps the bigger turbo spooled until it is needed? doesn't a twin work that way? unless u run two same size turbo...

What trim on the t3 are you running ...
It shouldn't be that much lack., because a Mercedes 3200CC gives out enough exhaust gas to spool it up fast enough..!!!
I used a T3 on my 91 MR2 and manage to put 350whp to it..

I guess you are right about the exhaust flow. Should not be too much lag. I don't have any experience with larger engines and turbos. My wife has a WRX wagon and it is a blast to drive except for it being an automatic and the turbo lag. It will out handle my CLK320 w/H&R's and Bilstein sports and it feels faster too.
Sorry so off topic...
Can't wait for some pics... .... It's great to see somebody trying something new!! I think our engines are capable of much more than they are putting out. Heck, Renntech will give you 410 hp. Although, you have to give them your first born.
