CLK Maintenance Cost Question : Does this sound right?
Service B : $490
New Fuel Filter : $230
Brake fluid flush : $100+
Coolant flush : $100+
New rotors / pads : $560
Transmission service : $370 (I opted to wait until 90K+ for this)
New Tires : $750 (I opted to buy these on my own)
-------------------------
Total to pay: $1500+
Does the cost sound right just for these maintenance items? I've never had a bill like this in all the time I've owned this car (and my old C class)
I'm scared to see what happens if anything actually goes wrong.
(Additional items, covered under Starmark)
New motor mounts
New coil wires

I bought new pads for 80 bucks from the dealership - u could get them cheaper elsewhere
I just bought new rotors off ebay for 140 including shipping - brembo cross drilled rotors
If you look at the owner's manual - the b service consists of a lot of "checks"
They check for leaks, check the tires/tread, check the signals/lights/foglights etc... its a lot of crap if you ask me... They should change your air filter also... I paid $140 for 2 K&N filters which are reusuable... who knows what they charge you for stock filters...
If you're mechanically handy you can do the pads/rotors yourself, discount their parts markup and labor and it's much less than that. Find out which rotors and pads they were going to swap; that sounds too cheap. My brake quote (at my last A service) was $975 for front/rear pads and only rear rotors -- heavy labor charges as the parts (for my job) were less than $200 at a regular discount (i.e., not retail dealer prices).
Lastly, if it won't void the remainder of your warranty, look for a good independent, it will probably cost you less than half that.
Good luck, and enjoy the ride,

Greg
B-Service = $440 ($50 cheaper)
Fuel filter = $120 ($110 cheaper)
Brake flush = $40 ($60 cheaper)
Coolant flush = $40 ($60 cheaper)
Rotors / pads = ~$500 ($60 cheaper)
----------------------
Difference = ~$340
Just told the dealership to hold off on non-warranty work.. I want to give these guys a try.
