Cost of Installation of an RS kit

Currently trying to decide which way to go. JoshK, maybe you can shed some light on this. How much was it to get the RS kit to fit and paint? Felix says his new material that he uses is plyable and flexible, and he says the fitment issues should be resolved with the new material. So :

1. Should I go with a new kit ($500) shipped + $XXX cost of fitment and paint

or

2. Buy a used kit, already fitted ($1000) + $XXX cost of Paint.

or

3. Buy Jim's (frappe) RS front bumper ($400) + $XXX repair + $XXX paint

Chime in ....responses are greatly appreciated

Take care

George

Mine was done by a friend who owned a body shop. The fittment was so abysmal that it took 2k in labor to mold the kit to my original bumpers. If you can find a used kit that's been fitted and you've seen it on the car (and are satisfied with the way it looks), that might be your best bet.

Josh can go into more detail, but the $2,000 job that he got also went above and beyond what the original RS kit comprised of. In short, he used the top half of a CLK bumper cover, and fitted the kit on it.

Actually I have a friend that owns a body shop so I didn't pay anything, but that's how much the work would have run to fit the unmodified kit to the body. My friend told me, however, that the kit was so poorly made that even with all that work, it would never fit perfectly, especially around the headlights; and as I'm a stickler for details, I wanted it done the more difficult way (the only correct way for this kit IMNTBHO). The amount of work that went into doing it the Josh K way would have run someone who doesn't have the benefit of a friend with a body shop well over $2k in labor.

Hi Josh,
I'm looking for the RS sideskirts but I'm really worry to buy something that does not fit well with the car. I always read there are big problems with fitting RS kits and it's necessary to pay a lot to body shop. Is it the the same for sideskirts or only for bumpers? Do you know something about? Thankyou

The side skirts are perhaps the easiest part of the kit to fit. The bumpers are where all the work is.
