HID...4300k or 6000K

has anyone upgraded to 6000k? and if so....was there significant decrease in LUMEN/ Intensity of the light. Been looking thru the net and different chart have different LUMEN ratings for 6000k. Some say 3200 lumens...others say 2800 lumens? What are your experiences?

Thanks in advance

George

I have 8000's in my CLK and they look great. 4300ks would be the same color as stock xenons. 6000's would be a little bluer, but not really. On warm days my 8000k's seem white to me. I would go for the 6000's. It would look nicer... I'll try to get pics of my 8000's when it gets a little darker out....

I had 6,000K on my Bimmer and they looked great. I do believe the lumen output was brighter than a 4300K light.

4300k Xenons will be the brightest as they are closest to actual daylight. Anything higher will look progressively bluer and then more purple but will not be as bright.

Sunlight has a color temp. of about 5200K, so a 5000K bulb would be the best chioce for brightness. The 6000K just looks better, you don't get that yellowish hue like the 4300K lights.

Ok... I took sum pics heres the 8000's I have installed.... I need to pet my side markers painted. The HID's look a little too blue in the pics. In person they are ALOT whiter with only a slight hint of blue. They are extremely bright, but don't project as far as the stock 4300k's on my escalade..

I don't know which bulbs you are talking about, but I just ordered two sets of piaa spark blue 7500k bulbs for my fogs (H3's) and my highs (H7's). Supposedly these are really high quality non HID bulbs and have a color match almost exactly to HID's. When I get them installed i'll post pics of them. I honestly have never dealt with the mccolloch bulbs. It's gonna be awhile though maybe two weeks. I ordered a carlsson RS kit to replaced my FU*CKED up lorinser DTM. Hopefully I have the kit in hand by next week. CurYousGee what kind of lights are you looking for? If you want a bright light that projects far go with a 4300k bulb. Those are the best for illuminating the road, but your lights will look just like any other xenon out there. If you want that special look to set your car off from others go with a higher kelvin HID. I was hesitant of my 8000's before they were installed. I thought they were gonna be too blue, and yadda yadda yadda, but I am really happy with them. I would reccomend 8000k's if your up for them. But in your situation i'd say go with a 6000 because its in your perameters. Hope this post helped

I say 6000k for sure. I just got a 5000k HID kit for my foglights and I think they are better than the 4300k.

From what I've heard about them they make a pretty good product. You can also check out the Phillips Ultinon system.

I have phillips 6000K on my car. As for brightness, it very bright, definitely, you'll see the road. Make sure you adjust your housing unit to shoot a little lower before people gets pissed and high beams you back on the opposing side of the street. As for color, it's basically white. At certain angles, you might see a slight hint of blue and velvet. But overall, it's white. It also depends on your housing unit though, it affects everything. I personally would've like to see more blue and velvet but didn't want to get in trouble with the law again. I got a fix it ticket once for having too much blue, velvet, and purple on my lights. That was the end of those lights.

Kelvin Temperature ( 3200k , 4100k , 5000k , etc ) has nothing to due with lumen output.

What are the new S class using? It seems that everytime I see a 03-05 they are very purple. Is this because the bulbs are newer as opposed to say a 2001-2002 which has been used longer and changed color?

4300k would be the brighest., the higher the color temp the lower the lumens output at the same rated wattage!

however 6k and 8k seems brigher because human eye precieve the blueish light better...
