Group Buy! CLK 55 Airbox

I would like to get a preliminary idea of how many people would be interested in purchasing a CLK55 Airbox for their CLK 430. From what I read on another thread (Josh K), it will add about 15 horses to the rear wheels (I dont know if K&N filters are also needed but I have them already and I guess it wouldnt hurt for anyone else to throw them in as well). OK guys so lets help each other out and save a few bucks - Let's buy in BULK... Whose in?

I wouldn't mind organizing the shipment of the airbox to people not in the NYC area... and as and if this comes along - we'll talk details about payment and shipment for those not in the area to pick the intake up themselves.

Here's some info

OK guys - sorry for the delay of the information you have all been asking for... To make the group buy happen we need at least 15 people to participate. We are looking at a 20% discount (I spoke to a guy at parts and he said he would work it out for us). Now here is the scary part. Retail price for the entire airbox is 640 plus tax (NY Tax - 8.625%). The breakdown is as follows: $262 for the Airbox (engine cover and the part which houses the filters) and 188 for EACH plastic tube that runs from the Airbox to the slots on both sides of the grill from where your car breathes in the air... Thats F'in absurd and I think the guy misunderstood me. I could have swore that another parts dept. told me 74 bucks a piece for the two tubes... Well those are the details for now. I am going to take my car in for service this week and I am going to speak to them in person about the price of the two tubes. Hopefully no one has lost faith in me and you guys are still willing to get in on it should the numbers work out.

Here are the part numbers you need and average prices:

1. Air Cleaner p# 113-090-01-01 $254.10
2. Hose p# 113-090-03-82 $169.85
3. Hose p# 113-090-02-82 $169.85
4. Cover Plate 113-010-05-67 $ 116.10
5. 4 Brackets 112-094-00-41 4@ 3.96

You can re-use your brackets (not sure about the 320) and save on that. The tubes are expensive, however if you have patients, duct tape and scissors, you can make your current hoses fit (for the 430).

If you are too cheap, just don't get the cover plate. It's nice and says AMG on it, but it's not functional if you never pop the hood.

i don't quite think that being a doctor will help you out that much. it's patience....not patients.

The black covering which houses the air filters. It sits on top of the engine. Says Mercedes Benz vertically down the middle of it.

Doesn't the cover plate differ from the stock 430 and the 55? I thought there were ribs on the stock 430 cover plate and the 55 cover plate was smooth.

Or is that just in the housing holding the filters?

So if the top cover plates are the same, you can get the performance of the 55 box with just the housing and the two tubes/hoses?

Nice. Care to share that number with us?

The funny thing is, if you just want the power increase and don't care about the looks, you can just buy the Air Cleaner and use your existing hoses and brakets.

15HP for $174.15 aint bad!

Hey Bagher, do you have the name and number of the person you talked to? And do you think that they would be able to ship that?

At those prices I'm surprised you haven't put one on by now.
