HID for CLK 430

So I crashed my CLK 430 a little bit ago and just bought an 02 CLK 430 because I hate the new body style. Anyways, the only thing this car doesn't have is Xenon. I called a shop to get HID's put on and he told me the H7 for mercedes doesn't fit properly and he has to cut and custom fit the HID kit. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anyway around it without going through the dealership? Thanks a lot.

well... you can get an aftermarket H7/D2R setup without any problems. I installed my buddy's kit in his W202 without any problems. no errors popped up either.

The other route you can go, is just get a set of Factory Xenon headlights...

The only reason I don't want the factory Xenon is #1 very pricey. #2 I think it goes off a projection which doesn't look nearly as good as the HID kits they have as aftermarket.

mmgrad, what type of HID did you install. I mean what brand and style and how did it look compared to the stock xenon's. Thanks

I upgrade MY lights to the factory xenons... they are brighter, they project the PROPER beam pattern, & they look a hell lot better (clear lens).... I paid <$500

As for my friend's W202, i put in a McCullugh H7 kit, and it was snap in/plug-n-play... finding a place to mount the ballast was the toughest part....i think he paid around $375

Since CurYousGee put in a bump, i'll bump myself too... i have like enough parts to make about 2 HID kits if you are interested... I even have a Bi-Xenon kit with projectors in my office too.... ALL are MB OEM stuff

stock lights are the IDEAL in terms of luminance, clarity and ease on eyes (minimal eye strain).

6000k is more like bluish light... but, its bad for your eyes & other drivers and it produces mad crazy glare... some will say, 6000k is ok on the glare, but, as mentioned... stock (4300K) is ideal, equivilant to natural sunlight...
