Car down

I took my car in last week to have a noise checked out that was coming somewhere from the rear end. It was only audible from about 32-48 mph and under a steady throttle. Since my warranty is done at the end of the year I figured I should get it checked out. They drained the rear diff and checked the gears, which I was told were in perfect condition. They then decided that the cause of the noise was my tires rubbing on the inner fenderwalls in the back, yet they do not touch when the car is sitting still. The thing is the noise was there when I have the stock wheels on but they will not go any further into the investigation until I get some spacers for the wheels.

I know that the wheels are not the problem, and now I have to waste time changing them out. Anyone have any previous problems like this where the noise would be there when you are on the gas (steady throttle) and have it go away when the pedal is not being pressed?

Oh and my car remains at the dealership because my instrument cluster needed to be replaced.

thats bull... if it is rubbing, it is the easiest thing to verify...

just look in the fenderwell for contact/rub marks... if its not there, then it obviously doesn't make any contact....

Just an update

I might not get my car back until next month. They now say the instrument cluster is backordered and the earliest ship date is the 22nd. I dropped it off June 30th and it has just sat there since then because the cluster needs to have the mileage match up. I'm happy they gave me a loaner but I'm really tired of driving a C240.

I hope it is at least being stored inside, I also told them not to wash it. The last thing I need is some flunk spraying some cleaning junk on my wheels and screwing up the finish.

Done venting.
