2000 CLK430 Cabriolet & 2004 Range Rover
![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Am I getting screwed here? I have been looking for a used CLK430 Cab and stumbled on one at a local dealer. It's a 2000 CLK Cabroilet, loaded. There were asking 58K for it. By the time I left the price dropped to 55K. It's almost three years old. Are these in that high demand that they can ask this much. This is the price that Edmunds TMV calculator shows for a private sale. It seems most non-convertable MB's are selling at Dealer Trade-In values. Have not seen any of the Cabs for sale anywhere.

meh,
Vehicle pricing is dependent on where you live. I bought the very same vehicle three months ago. I didn't get a great deal, just a fair price according to Edmunds. However, I had to go out of state to get it. In So. Cal. the pricing on Cab's is outrageous. I tried to buy from my local dealer but the only MY2000's they got were high mileage and somewhat worn. They still where asking top retail or above so I looked elsewhere.
Going far away for your purchase can have drawbacks such as the dealer has no incentive to perform on promises made. The level of customer service apparently drops after delivery when they know you will likely not be back. Hence, I will never do business with Mercedes Benz of Wilsonville Oregon again. I warn you not to trust them either and whomever you deal with get everything in writing or walk!

BenzFan,
Thanks for the feedback. Just to let you know. I took my deposit back on the 430 and it sold the next day. I was a little bummed but my mission was really to test drive one. It has been really difficult to find new or used ones on the lots up here (NH) to even test drive. Friday I am going to test drive a 2002 M3 Convertible. I need to try it before I make a final decision. My heart is really set on the MB, but the engineer background in me is making me check out the competition.
BTW, did you buy the 430 from a dealer? The Edmunds Dealer Trade-In for the 2000 alone was $52K. It sounds like you either found a distressed buyer or I need to hire you to negotiate pricing for me??
Thanks for the feedback.

ML Dude,
Thanks for your reply. I agree with you 100%. I usually start at dealerships that are the farthest and work my way closer to home. As I stated in my response to BenzFan, it seems that I live in an area where these are in high demand.
Any feedback on the 2003 (old chassis).
Thanks,
MEH
