Reset service light?

Can someone tell me how to reset the service light on a CLK430? I looked through the archives w/o any luck. I maintain the car by myself.

TIA

First go to the THE PADDLES ON THE STEERING WHEEL

USE THEM TO SCROLL TO THE MAINTENANCE SCREEN.

THEN ONCE YOU GET TO THE MAINTENANCE SCREEN WITH THE KEY ON...PUSH AND HOLD THE BUTTON ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CLUSTER...

A PROMPT WILL TELL YOU IF YOU WANT TO RESET THE SERVICE INTERVAL TO PUSH THE BUTTON AGAIN..

THEN YOUR ALL SET

Sorry, I forgot to mention that it's a '99. I don't have the steering wheel buttons. I did however manage to figure out how to change the menu language while tinkering with the instrument cluster buttons :/

This are the instructions I got from a mb tech but I dont now if it works or not. It might be worth a try>

How to reset FSS after an oil change:

turn ignition key to position 2

press reset button twice within 4 seconds

turn ignition back to pos 1

press and hold the reset button

turn ignition to pos 2

keep pressing the reset button until buzzer sounds and new miles display appears

OK I figured it out. Sael's procedure was correct except I was pressing the reset button on the right...when I should have been pressing the odometer reset button instead. Thanks a million Sael!

Tried using the above procedure, but it always resets to a B service when it should be an A. Is there a different procedure to reset to an A?

Yet another example of why people need to post complete details with their questions or, even better include that info in their profiles. I would think the year of the car and where you're located would be fairly important details, no?

I'm not sure to whom the above message addresses although based on its content it really doesn't matter. My question (if you care to re-read it) clearly states the year ('98) & the location is irrelevant considering I knew the location of the original post (which happens to be within 50 miles of my location). As long as both cars are in the US it wouldn't matter anyway. The original poster stated his car was a '99 so I fail to see what you meant with your post.

Just being friendly, no big deal but...this was your first post, no mention you're near SF and no location in you're profile. You could be in Perth Australia or Greece. There's posters here from both places. Do you think it may be possible the procedure could be different in those locations?

My comment though was mostly directed at sdonovan. He gave us squat then said his car is a CLK320 elegance. I know the elegance model is not an American car, might be Canadian not sure so again, things could be different.

Forums like this one are primarily tech support forums. Members need to have as much detail as possible in order to give a cogent answer. I know I'm not going to try to answer a question from someone in the UK because there's plenty of members from the UK to handle it. Would you?

99CLK320,
I agree with you jazz; I have a 99/320 and I tried a number of different reset procedures from several poster w different year and model cars however, there was one that was specific to my year and model. I had to push the reset button 3 times not just 2. my owners manual instructions didn't even work. took me forever to figure it out.
