01 CLK430

Check Engine Ligh ON

My 'Check Engine' light came on today while driving around in my '01 CLK430. I've never had this happen and according to the manual, it's a fuel injection/emissions problem. I also checked the gas cap and made sure it was on securely.

Question is: Has anyone had this happen before? Is it the MAS as I've read about in the past? What's the most common diagnosis for this light?

Also, how long can live with this light on? I need to drive around for work the next two weeks and can't get to the dealer during their business hours. Can you belive the Service opens at 8:30am?

There's always something with my CLK430

I just got the catalytic converter replaced; was making crazy grinding/rattle noise. But luck I'm still under Starmark!

2001 CLK320, 2003 E320

Most likely it’s the MAF. In mean time it’s fine to drive around with the CEL on.

Luckly I had mine replace under warranty.

My light came on and the dealer replaced the MAF. The light came on again, and Auto Zone read the code, oxygen sensor. Since then my light has gone off. Go figure!

Now it's off?!?!?

Drove it around this weekend and the light went off this afternoon when I started the car. Should I still take it in for a check up even if the light is no longer on? Very suspicious...I thought the light had to be reset using some special tool.

it's going to either be the MAF or your 02 sensors. I experienced the same problem twice. The first time it was the front 2 oxygen sensors. THe second time, it was a faulty MAF.
