Lower Stance
I want to get a spring and strut set that will duplicate how CLK55's sit. They are perfect in my opinion - hovering somewhere around an inch or so from the top of the tires... I am in awe but I have no idea of which spring and strut set would be best fit... lets see some of you post pics of your drop and please name the springs and struts used for the drop. Thanks guys

then... why not just pick up a set CLK55 AMG springs & struts and then you'll get prety close to that stance...
Your car 'may' sit a little higher, but thats because ur engine is a little lighter than that of the CLK55

Cheers,
so you used the eibach pro kit springs?!? very nice...
Thats just the right drop I want for my CLK... did you change the pads when you changed the springs?
Another question...
If I go with bilstein struts, will that drop it even more?

02 CLK320 ,bilstein sport shocks, Eiback springs, ECU upgraded, Front grill and emblem, 18" wheels
Good question, now assuming that these shocks lowered it some more, how hard would it be to change the spring pads. And how thick of pads do people use.

OK, a few basics and I'll get out...
Shock absorbers don't lower your car. They have very little if anything to do with your ride height, only if they are so worn that they let your car sit a littel lower. If you install Bilsteins, and you have worn'older shocks/springs, you may actually find your car a bit higher once the job is done, as the Bilstein is a gas pressure shock, which usually exerts a bit more upward pressure than a conventional shock like an OE Sachs or a Koni. The spring pads are used to trim out the ride height based on weight/accesories/equipment, etc. You'll want to get two or three sets, (#1, #2, #3, front and rear) and experiment with them, once you see what pads you are riding on now.
I've experimented with about a half dozen 208's on springs, shocks, and ride height. Check the archives in this forum for the words "eibach, H&R, AMG euro spec". If I were to do the whole thing over again, I would use the AMG euro spec 55 springs (better ride quality than either the H&R or Eibach) and either the OE AMG 55 shocks or the Bilsteins. I've wasted lots of my time and money figuring this out, maybe it will help you. Keep in mind that the 208 is a car that is quite ride height sensitive in terms of handling and ride quality, and does not have adjustments for camber at the rear, so tires are a concern as well.
Hope this helps.

there is an answer to the rear camber...
I prefer the ride height of the 55 myself... I would like to duplicate it... Is there a BIG difference between eibach springs and the AMG euro spec springs in terms of ride quality (daily driving)?

Yes, I'm aware of that, just
didn't know if you were. I would also just use the factory "crashbolts" ( I believe they are a 202 part number) on the front, as you won't be able to dial in enough camber without them (or the KMac or similar setup). If you really want to do it right, you could get the Renntech 208 adjustable rear subframe, but they'll have to make it for you, and it's quite spendy (I think around $1400).
