Weekend project gone wrong.

Well I went to change out the parking lights and fog lamps this evening and without checking out the operator’s manual first I went to the PIAA site and ordered the bulbs listed there for my vehicle.98 thru 04 MB CLK High/Low beam H7, Fog 9006 and parking light mini wedge. Okay got bulbs in hand, vehicle safely on in the air on stands. Good tunes rocken, A C cranked, girl at her mothers. This is going to go smooth and quick. High beams H7 check. Total time including opening hood, ten minutes. Parking light mini wedge? Wait a minute, not even close. Okay move on to fog lamps, but wait these are not 9006’s! These look like H3’s.Crap two out of three no good, I now realize I must refer to the operator’s manual. I’m glad she went to mothers and is not here to witness one of my “This is going to go smooth and quick” Ha Ha. The operator’s manual tells me H7, Good so far. Next, parking light H 6W? And fog listed as H1. Now I have thee fog bulb in hand and a quick search on my unreliable PIAA site clearly shows this bulb in hand to be an H3. Fine, I can exchange the 9006 for an H3 but were can I find extreme white H 6W bulb to closely match my Xenon? Total time with search and typing, 36 minutes. At least the tunes are rocken and it is cool in here.

another guy recommended www.autolumination.com - 5LED Ba9s listed in the "other" section I think. you gotta file down one of the things sticking out so it'll fit in the H6W slot. careful, though! i broke one of the bulbs while doing this. waiting to get some more in the mail and put in my xenons, i'll let you know how it goes. they far from match my current halogens, so anyone with halogens shouldn't try it.

Thanks Midget, I'll look for that bulb. Let me know how your project turns out.

I actually just got the xenons in today. I only have one LED bulb right now so I had my left regular H6W halogen and the right a filed down LED. The 5LED Ba9 looks a LOT better than the ultra-yellow halogen, but it's not a perfect match. The LED has a hint of blue, but the xenon is extra white. Still better than the halogen H6W, though, so I'm gonna stick with it.
