Another problem here

I had my tranny oil changed a week ago, just because I got paranoid with all the posts around ( btw the shifts feel much smoother and my car had only 38k miles) Since I brought the car to the MB Dealership I said what the heck, change the air filters too.
Now after a few days my wife tried to start the car, she said 3 malfunctions appeared on the screen and all these abs, eps lights or whatever they are called were on. She turned the car off and on again and everything was fine again.
Today I got curious and opened the hood, figured out that the big plastic thing that covers the engine and has the air filters wasn't attached correctly. Even the air hoses weren't sitting at the right place. Tried to fix it myself tonight, felt everything clicked correctly, then started the car and it died after a few seconds. Couldn't keep the revs up and was trembling. Tried again same thing.
IS that a Maf sensor problem? Thank god I have 20 days of warranty left. I am not a car expert so I would appreciate any advice from you guys...

That's the first thing I'd put my money on. Something could've damaged the MAF pretty badly!

Just looking at the invoice, it was around 350 including the gasket, filter, lock pin(whatever that is) and fluid of course.

Funny thing after the prices there is a note saying: "Customer advised not to change fluid"

When I was talking to the service manager he told me you don't have to change the tranny oil at all. I said I don't care, just do it. Won't hurt . He agreed it won't hurt. Then I said to him this flexible service program is BS. I asked why MB doesn't do it anymore? He said sure we do it. But you don't pay for it anymore. Hello!!!!

That sounds about right... I paid about the same for mine last year, but they screwed up one of the seals and the car sounded like crap leaving the service area. I can't believe they don't test drive cars after doing work like that.

Still, the filter thing is pretty straight forward... and I'd recommend you do that yourself next time and save on the labor. The in-cabin one is the trickier one but that's just because it's hard to get to. You can get both filters online for cheap, and I know that autozone even stocks the intake filter if you don't feel like paying for shipping.

Something like this, with a service department that's obviously full of morons, and charging you $100/hour in labor, is something that you should definitely consider doing yourself...

It depends on the service manager, but most honest ones (and the ones in the know) will tell you that they don't follow FSS on their own cars... mine was the first to tell me that he changes his own oil at 5k, and that even though the tranny fluid was "lifetime" that I should change it way before I get to 100k, etc.
