Which one is better currently i have the 8500 x50 red with the zr-3 shifter
i just ordered the V1 for the 30day trial.

The shifter makes the Escort better, but only because it lets you... err... "respond" to the laser tag from the cops. AFAIK you can't do that with the V1. But as far as range and detection, there are probably dozens of threads about which one is "better"

I like my V1 because of the arrows... it lets me know if I should be ignoring that K that's always there, or if I should be concerned because I've never seen it on the left side before, etc. And it has better rear coverage as well...

I like my Escort as well though, and I haven't had any problems with either detector since the day I got them.

I can't comment on Escort since I've never used their product, but the V1 has saved my butt numerous times, except for once, but it wasn't at fault, since the bonehead didnt put the detector up.

If laser is used in your town, the escort + shifter will be your best bet. If laser isn't used right now, there's a good chance that might start using it in the future. All the cops here in orlando are on laser now.

neither, get a passport SRX, stealth and very accurate. plus you wont get on the cop's bad side because he wont see this big "I was trying to get around the law" device hanging from your mirror. Also, the detectors arent having to detect through glass so thats a plus. here's my install on my car...

escort is a better radar detector, V1 is equal but has better laser detection not that that will help you . . .

the ZR3 is an antiquated jammer and doesn't work with 3rd generation laser guns . . . check speedzones.com for the latest reviews on jammers and detectors, you won't go wrong with either unit, but for jammers blinder and lidatek are the best, passport and v1 are the best . . . i've used both but i ride in my car with the v1 now
