Outside Temp read out!!
Hi guys, I'm having an issue with the temperature read out everytime the car is parked for a while the number don't show completly but after driving for a while the numbers show perfectly, any ideas. Thanks E

thats a common problem with alot of the pre-2000 models, not sure about post 2000. The readout sometimes fades but normally comes back. Only option to fix permanently is to replace the cluster

Same problem - out of warranty when I took it in - cluster not replaced - now gear indicator readout is shot too.
Mine is a 2000.
If your cluster/display is like mine - and you want to see it work perfectly for an instant, try getting a feather duster and dusting off the face of the display. If you go back and forth the static (or something) juices up the little fu*kers and lights them all up like the 4th of July!!!

I have an cluster that works great except the outside temp in cold weather loses a few pixels sometimes. Would be great for anyone in a warm area. I'm in Seattle. Will sell for $50 + shipping, OBO

if you have warranty...get it replaced ASAP. Eventually whole temp display area will go out.....mine did...started out with the "F" then the numbers went out...then stayed out completely....then the Clock started to give tooo.....so i had the whole thing replaced

Only thing about buying a used cluster from a private party is that I think the total vehicle mileage has to be programmed into the cluster so that it corresponds to (matches) the total vehicle mileage of the vehichle into which the cluster is installed. I remember reading threads where people's cars were in the shop for extended periods while cluster was on back order so that mileage wouldn't change until new (pre-programmed cluster) was received/installed.

no wonder the *******s at the mb dealership keep feeding me bull****.
I have warranty on the car and i have the same problem as you guys. The dealership keeps telling me, "The cluster is on backorder. we'll call you in 2 weeks."
Of course i receive no call and I come back to the guy and he tells me the wrong part has been ordered and keeps BSing me. What is their deal? We pay so much money for the car already and the warranty and they dont wanna fix these things. i dont get it.

its not on back order....they are ****ing with you....i heard the same...but when i went in to Rusnak MB...they said nope...its all done and ordered..come back in 3 days....and it was a done deal....
