Tranny tech?

My tech said that once I got all of my mods done he could reprogram my transmission to relearn my driving habits with the new mods, My questions are:

Has anyone else had this done?

Is this a good idea?

Would transmission tuning be better if I had it done through a chip, and is that even possible?

Any answers or ideas would be great, thanks in advance.

I think what he means is that he will clear the adaptive learning memory so it can get a fresh start. The trans learns your driving style after a while. Drive like my grandma and it wil shift lower and slower. Drive like you stole it and it will give you all she's got!

So, I'm thinking this would be a good idea. So I wait until I get all the mods done, including the chip, or do it before the chip?

Well if you flash the ECU so it "relearns" your driving habits it probably wouldn't be a good thing to do after you get a chip. Personally if you get your ecu modded I don't think you'll want to mess with anything afterward and accidentally reset the software or whatever.

I believe that disconnecting the battery for a time (20 min?) is all it takes to reset it. On the other hand, driving it like you stole it for 20 minutes will also work and it is more fun to boot!

Right, that's what I meant to say.

Okay here is what the plan is/was. I was thinking of having him do it when I took it in for my Service A, then getting the chip when I got it back.

I like the way you think.
